Local TV Over Satellite Local TV over Satellite (LTVS) is a company formed to carry local TV signals on a satellite system in such a way that Direct Broadcast Satellite service providers can use the local signals as an adjunct to their own programming. The basis of the system is a Ka-band satellite with multiple spot beams covering the USA. Our Responsibilities include:
iBlast iBlast is creating a wireless network using IP in the digital TV spectrum to deliver information to personal computers and set top boxes. More than 300 TV stations are expected to be a part of the iBlast network, covering approximately 90% of TV Households. The network currently includes 225 stations in 143 markets covering all the top 25 markets. Each TV station in the network will broadcast iBlast content at a minimum rate of 3.7 Mbps continuously and will average 7 Mbps over a 24 hour period. In addition, bandwidth not used by a station for its own broadcasts will be utilized opportunistically by iBlast. The stations have an exclusive contract with iBlast for periods ranging from 8-12 years. Our Responsibilities include:
GORCA Gorca is a consulting company charged with the acquisition of a satellite for a new DBS operator. The satellite makes extensive use of spot beams to multiply the effective bandwidth assigned to the operator. HD+ Associates are assisting GORCA in this endeavor by evaluating competing spacecraft payloads, with link and transponder performance analyses, payload design reviews and MPEG-4 video compression tests. Projects successfully completed
Astro The ASTRO DBS service offers 24 television and 8 radio services in digital format. The service will be expanded to include a range of interactive applications, such as distance learning, home-shopping, home-banking and software download capabilities. Our Responsibilities included:
WSB A broadcast test system has been constructed in Los Angeles. This is a scaled down version of the Asia Broadcast Centre in Malaysia, supporting six channels of compressed television. Our Responsibilities included:
Binariang / Measat The Measat satellite system is operated by Binariang Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd. HD+ Associates have provided Measat with the architecture for a Data Transmission Satellite System using Ku-band and Ka-band spot beams over Australasia. This architecture was incorporated in a RFP for a two-satellite system. HD+ Associates have also assisted Measat in the development of RFPs for their follow-on satellites Measat-3 and Measat-4. |
